In Grisons, 300 fortified weapons positions were built on passes and in ravines during World War II.
The first fortress built was the bunker Albula. In just 5 months of construction, the 11m high concrete block weighing around 4,000 tonnes was built into the permafrost. For 60 years, the well-camouflaged fortress was top secret. Now it is renovated, re-equipped, armed and accessible to visitors.
